ERAP TRUST RATING STILL HIGHER THAN GMA
Manila, Dec. 23, 2000 On the first week of his impeachment trial, President Estrada still topped the public trust rating compared to other national leaders, particularly those seeking his resignation, according to the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The SWS said the survey, conducted Dec. 8 to 11, showed that the President registered 43 percent with a plus 10 net of the respondents, saying they had much trust in him with 32 percent expressing less trust in him.
Former president Corazon Aquino registered trust of 38 percent and 43-percent little trust while former president Fidel Ramos earned 36-percent trust and 41-percent little trust.
Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo posted 32-percent trust and 41-percent little trust, while Cardinal Sin had 37-percent trust and 39-percent little trust.
The administration-identified winning senatorial bets have been identified as Interior and Local Governments Secretary Alfredo Lim, broadcaster Noli de Castro, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Press Secretary Ricardo “Dong” Puno, Defense Secretary Orlando Mercado, Agriculture Secretary Edgardo Angara, and senators Juan Ponce-Enrile and Gregorio Honasan.
The probable winning senatorial candidates identified as either opposition or independent are Juan Flavier (Lakas), Ramon Magsaysay Jr. (Ind.) radio-TV personality Francisco “Kiko” Pangilinan (Lakas), senators Franklin Drilon and Sergio Osmeña III (Ind.) and Rep. Ralph Recto (Lakas).
The SWS said its survey results validate the Pulse Asia survey conducted between Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 in the National Capital Region (NCR) which showed that more people place their trust on the President as led the pack in net trust ratings earning +10 percent with Arroyo plunging to -9 percent; Aquino, with -5 percent; and Ramos with -5 percent.
