JUDY ANN TACKLES LOVE TRIANGLE THEME
Quezon City, Oct. 30, 2000 - Star Cinema's "Kahit Isang Saglit" (theme song of the same title sung by Martin Nievera), directed by movie newcomer Gilber Perez from a screenplay by Mia Concio, is the first movie together of three of the company's brightest young stars today, namely Judy Ann Santos, who is the Drama Queen of Philippine Television (and a Box Office Queen in her own right), Piolo Pascual, who's a Hot Heartthrob and an upcoming Drama Prince, and Leandro Muñoz, who has emerged as a versatile actor at ease in both drama and comedy.
"Kahit Isang Saglit" is the poignant story of two young architects who both fall in love with a pretty architect, Judy Ann, in a different kind of love triangle with twists and turns in the end.
"It's a story about letting go and moving on," said Direk Gilbert, who honed his directorial skills in ABS-CBN drama shows ("Flames," "Maalaala Mo Kaya," "Wansapanataym," etc.). "What happens when fate intervenes in the plans of humans? That what the movie will show."
Also starring are Tracy Vergel, Bernard Palanca, Mark Gil and Carmi Martin, plus Julia Clarete. "Kahit Isang Saglit" is Star Cinema's pre-Christmas offering, a fitting one, because of its positive message. "It's different from my past movies," said Judy Ann. "I'm playing a different role; the plot is new."
Judy Ann previously worked with Piolo in "Esperanza," Star Cinema's entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival last December, and with Leandro in the blockbuster "Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko" (also topbilled by FPJ).
It's Piolo's first movie after "Lagarista" and Leandro's first after "Anak," topbilled by Vilma Santos and Claudine Barretto, which is the country's entry in next year's Oscars (Best Foreign Language Film category).
All three young stars are familiar as TV actors, with Judy Ann starring in her own drama show Monday nights on ABS-CBN. Piolo was in the cast of the TV series "Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako," and Leandro in "Saan Ka Man Naroroon" and "Tabing-Ilog."
There's a certain attraction among the three, but so far, they'd rather remain the best of friends.
"Both Piolo and Leandro are sweet," said Judy Ann, refusing to say who she'll pick if the two guys start courting her. "On the set, masaya kami, because we're comfortable with each other. I've known Leandro from way back, when we were both in school. Si Piolo ay kilalang-kilala ko na rin."
Sometimes, Judy Ann would cook for Piolo and Leandro when the set was near her home. Leandro would also bring food for Judy, while Piolo showered Judy Ann with flowers.
"If all my leading men were like them," said Judy Ann, "masaya ang mundo."
The film is calculated to give moviegoers that feel-good spirit.
