RMN JOINT VENTURE FOR E! PHILIPPINES

Manila, Oct.1, 2000 - E! Entertainment Television, the biggest producer of entertainment-based programming in the US has formed an alliance with Radio Mindanao Network (RMN), the country’s largest radio network, to create E! Philippines.

Eric S. Canoy, RMN president, together with Lito Ocampo Cruz, head of RMN’s television operations, were instrumental in forging the alliance with E! International in Hollywood recently. E! International was represented by Jon Helmrich, Senior Vice President for International Development.

E! Philippines airs on UHF Channel 31 and is also being carried on Channel 16 on Home Cable, Channel 64 on Destiny Cable, and Channel 75 on SkyCable. Next year, E! Philippines will be on a 24-hour broadcast. It is currently being viewed from 12 noon until 6 p.m. daily.

This alliance was borne out of a longstanding relationship E! International has with RMN. RMN used to air E! programs in its old CTV 31 channel.

E! Philippines will be launched in October and will be holding a big party in November where all the E! popular personalities, like Steve Kmetko, will be coming in to grace the occasion.

News about the alliance already came out in Variety, Hollywood’s foremost trade paper which also said that the new channel will produce a variety of original programs and interstitials focused on the local entertainment industry.

One brilliant move of E! Philippines will benefit the local TV industry as it also hopes to promote other networks, their shows and their stars.

As it is, E! Philippines is the newest addition to E!’s growing number of TV affiliates all over the globe.
