NEWSFLASH
Manila, Aug. 23, 2000 - Hotel guests, especially executives who are constantly on the go, will soon be able to use high-speed Internet service in the comfort of their own hotel rooms in the Philippines.
Keeping in step with the information age, many hotels are interested in technology provided by ViewInternet, which allows high-speed Internet access through the in-room television and the guest's laptop.
Guests who do not travel with their own laptops will still be able to access the Internet through their room’s high-tech television set by using the familiar browsing environment of the latest version of Netscape. Both the television and laptop can be used simultaneously.
ViewInternet is the only company in Asia capable of providing a dual solution that allows high-speed Internet access through the in-room TV and guest's laptop.
Last July, ViewInternet presented its connectivity solutions before the Hotel IT Association of the Philippines, which groups information system officers from 20 hotels, including Shangri-La Makati, Peninsula Manila, Manila Diamond Hotel, Hyatt Regency Manila and The Pan Pacific Hotel.
Several hotels expressed interest in ViewInternet's service. ViewInternet said it will provide the hardware and software at no cost to the hotels.
Very soon, guests of Shangri-La's EDSA Plaza Hotel, Shangri-La Makati, Traders Hotel and Shangri-La Mactan will be among the first to experience ViewInternet's dual in-room Internet solution in the Philippines.
At present, ViewInternet has a regional alliance with the Shangri-La properties and will be implementing the high-speed Internet service in 37 Shangri-La hotels and resorts in 10 Asian countries.
ViewInternet has offices in Manila, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Madrid. The company is set to open more offices in other key cities in the coming months.
