VINA-ROBIN MOVIE SHOWCASES HER VERSATILITY
Quezon City, May 12, 2000 - Vina Morales, regarded as one of the most talented performers today, get to show off her versatility in her new movie under Millennium Cinema, "Eto Na Naman Ako," where she sings, dances and acts all at the same time!
In the movie, Vina plays Ana Maria Gomez, a phenomenally successful singer-actress whose life is in danger.
An obsessed fan stalks and sends her death threats. Afraid for her safety, she decides to hire a bodyguard. By twist of fate, the hired bodyguard happens to be her childhood sweetheart and former boyfriend, Abel Razalo (played by Robin Padilla).
"I fell in love with the role because I get to do a lot of singing, dancing and of course, acting as well," Vina says. "It's exciting because I get to play a character which is similar to who I am in real life. But what makes it difficult is that my character has to act scared. My character here has been receiving death threats and she needs a bodyguard badly. That's when Binoe enters the picture."
This is Vina's fourth team-up with local cinema's Bad Boy.
Their first and second team-up, "Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum" and "Miss Na Miss Kita: Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum 2," were two of the biggest box-office hits during the late '80s. They were reunited in one of the biggest blockbusters of 1999, "'Di Puwedeng Hindi Puwede." Now they are again together in "Eto Na Naman Ako," which many are already predicting to be a record-breaking hit for their team-up.
"I'm happy to be working with Binoe again," she beams. "We all know that our team-up has been very successful and we appreciate the support of our followers. They will love this movie because it's a combination of action, drama, comedy and romance. They should not miss this one because this will remind them of Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner's 'The Bodyguard.' I guarantee that they will also fall in love with the movie."
Vina says that the reason for the success of her team-up with Binoe is no secret. It's just a matter of working with the right people, she says.
"It is also our professionalism," Vina explains. "When Binoe and I work, we really put our heart and mind into it. We don't play around nor reminisce on our past relationship. We are both on the set to work and we try to give all these people a movie that is worth their money. Working with Binoe is wonderful and every actress he has worked with could attest to how he really works hard on any project."
Ike Jarlego, Jr. directs the action-comedy-romance that also stars Troy Montero, Candy Pangilinan, Rosemarie Gil, Chinggoy Alonso, Royette Padilla, Allan Paule, Vangie Labalan, among others. This opens on June 7.
