PHILIP READIES FIRST FILM FOR 2000
Quezon City, April 21, 2000 - Phillip Salvador and Viva Films always team up for a perfect combination of quality and commercial appeal, like the latest, ''Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na,'' Phillip's first film for 2000 directed by Augusto Salvador from a screenplay by Humilde ''Meek'' Roxas.
"Viva will always be home for me," says Phillip whose late sister, Mina Salvador, was the wife of Viva big boss Vic del Rosario Jr. 'I feel comfortable working with Viva. Lahat ng hilingin ko ibinibigay, all for the good of the project.”
Back in the mid-’80s, Phillip was already settled with his family (wife Sony Dabao and their three children) in New York when his sister Mina and Boss Vic saw him visited. The Viva couple convinced Phillip to fly back to Manila and resume his acting career, as action-drama actor.
"I am fascinated by cops," adds Phillip who plays a different kind of cop drunken but dedicated cop in "Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na," also starring Sunshine Cruz as a human-rights lawyer, Ace Espinosa, Via Veloso, Sylvia Sanchez, Joko Diaz, Chuck Perez, Mandy Ochoa, Jimwell Stevens, and many others. “There are good cops and there are bad cops and I hope my cop movies will show the difference.”
But unlike "Joe Pring," "Margallo," and 'Barbers," the cop Phillip is playing in "Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na," is fictitious.
Phillip hopes to be busier this year, with another movie for Millennium Films with Ina Raymundo, plus his continuing action-drama television series "Code Name: Verano" on GMA 7.
