IMELDA PAPIN’S SIS, DAUGHTER MAKE SHOWBIZ SPLASH
Quezon City, April 7, 2000 - Imelda Papin’s younger sister, Aileen Grace Papin, is closely following in her footsteps and slowly making a name for herself. Known for many years as the Philippines’ “Jukebox Queen,” Mel is now more engrossed in politics, having been elected vice governor of Camarines Sur.
Aileen headlines a show called “Pure Love” which bears the message of true love in arts of singing and entertainment. Aileen is joined in the show by Gary Cruz, Jordan Olivar, Paul Matthew and Pure Love Alliance (PLA) foreign artists Kyle Kim, Tony Lee and Jamal Johnson. Other performers are Joan Papin, Robert Perez, Kay Ermelyn Singian, Wilson Reyes and the Boom Empire Band.
Aileen (who has also wowed members of the Fourth Estate through her several guestings at the “Celebrity Night” show of the National Press Club), leads the team in its belief that human sexuality is good, natural and healthy in a monogamous relationship. “Sex is for life multiplication, creating an unbreakable bond of love between husband and wife. A private act with profound social consequences,” she was quoted as saying.
“Pure Love” will happen tonight and tomorrow, April 7 and 8 at the Downtown Bar Rembrandt Hotel at 8 p.m.
The show is being produced by the Philippine Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (P-CARP) and PLA, a non-sectarian, school-based nationwide student organization recognized by the SEC and directed by JP de Guzman.
Another member of the family who’s likewise headed for stardom, is Mel’s own daughter Maffi, who made heads turn and impressed televiewers with her stunning beauty during the recent Awards Night of the Film Academy of the Philippines held at the PICC.
At the PICC show, Maffi joined other children of past supersingers (the others were children of Yoyoy Villame, Edgar Mortiz and Freddie Aguilar) and they rendered the popular songs of their parents.
