HEALTH CENTER FOR ZAMBALES AETAS

Iba, Zambales, April 28, 2000 - First Lady Dr. Luisa ''Loi'' Ejercito Estrada led the inauguration yesterday of a community health center for Aetas.

The First Lady and her group were welcomed by local officials led by Gov. Vicente Magsaysay and Iba Mayor Pancho Huang.

The First Lady donated P100,000 for the medicine supply of the health center and assured residents here of the assignment of a permanent midwife and the construction of an additional one-room structure, which will be used as delivery room. The health center is located in a resettlement area in sitio Lupang Pangako, barangay Amungan.

Dr. Loi also promised the Aeta community here that the construction of a two-room school building for the literacy program of the Aeta elders will start soon.

Her next priority for the community is provide residents with potable water and livelihood assistance projects.

She asked Magsaysay to provide one service vehicle for the resettlement area and to improve the roads going to the sitio.
