POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY INSIDE CLARK GETS GOVT OK
Clark Field, Pampanga, April 22, 2000 - President Estrada has approved the establishment of the Angeles University Foundation-Clark Polytechnic Institute (AUF-CPI) at the former Wagner High School site at the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) in Clark Field, Pampanga.
The approval was disclosed by AUF board of trustees member Sen. Tessie Aquino Oreta in a letter to Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President and Chief Executive Officer Sergio Naguiat Jr.
Oreta also committed her full support for the operation of AUF-CPI as a specialized training center to provide the skilled manpower needs of investors in the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
"I sincerely believe that this AUF-CPI project can provide employable skills to the thousands of unemployed and underemployed people of Central Luzon, especially the victims of Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991 and should, therefore, merit our mutual support," Oreta told Naguiat.
"In order to erase any doubt on the desirability of this project, and its being located at the site of the former Wagner High School site, I am pleased to furnish herein a copy of my memorandum to President Estrada with his hand-written note dated April 2, 2000 giving his approval to continue with this project in its present site, and to comply immediately with his instruction."
AUF-CPI is expected to have its initial operation in June.
