PHILIP & SUNSHINE TEAM UP FOR THE FIRST TIME

Manila, March 7, 2000 - For the first time, Phillip Salvador and Sunshine Cruz (now Mrs.Cesar Montano) are teamed up in a movie soon to be released by Viva Films. The action movie, entitled 'Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na' (originally titled 'Games of the Generals'), is directed by Augusto Salvador from a story and screenplay by Humilde 'Meek' Roxas.
In the movie, Phillip plays anew the role of a cop, a role that has won him accolades and awards. But in “Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na,” Ipe delineates an entirely different role - that of a drunkard cop, with a bottle tucked in his waist along with his gun.
Says Ipe: “It’s a different kind of cop and I enjoyed playing the role. The cop may be a drunkard but he performs his duties well, that’s why his superior cannot kick him out of the service. He’s a good cop, an honest cop, one who solves crimes as fast as he empties his bottles.”
With sexy Sunshine as his leading lady, Ipe can add that the team-up is nothing but explosive. However, Sunshine may be passionate and daring in her previous films (with other action stars for she seems to be their favorite leading lady) but in “Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na,” her men fans may be a little disappointed: she doesn’t have sexy scenes or steamy love or bed scenes in this movie, just a little kissing with Phillip.
Sunshine, who’s presently abroad to fulfill a series of singing engagements, is now shying away from sexy roles (like the one she played in “Ekis”) in deference to Cesar’s wishes and hers too, as they are now preparing for a life together as a couple. In fact, so serious is Sunshine in her forthcoming role of a housewife that she has announced her intention to quit showbiz after their church wedding slated in December. It was her father’s (Danny Cruz of the famous 747 Band) suggestion that Sunshine concentrates on her family when they marry and of course Cesar likes the idea very much he agreed.
So this movie, “Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na,” is one of the last few films that Sunshine is obligated to do (we heard she’ll have to do just three more and she’s finished with her contract), and one of them is “Warfreak 11” which will pair her for the second time with Cesar, the first being “Bullet,” a movie dedicated to Cesar’s late sister.
Going back to “Pag Oras Mo, Oras Mo Na,” which also stars Joko Diaz, Via Veloso, Sylvia Sanchez, Chuck Perez, Ace Espinosa,Jimwell Stevens, Iwi Nicolas and Emil Sandoval, it features Sunshine in the role of a human rights lawyer who at first gets in the way of Phillip’s performance of duty. However, they become allies in the end, fighting for a common cause - justice for all, including Phillip whose own son is killed by the neighborhood hoodlums.
“In the movie,” Phillip says, “it’s also shown that bad eggs in the police force can deter the solution of crimes. In fact, some bad cops are themselves criminals. These are the type of cops that should be exposed for what they are.”
Sunshine, who has starred with Raymart Santiago in “Haring Daga” and Bong Revilla in “Ang Titser Kong Pogi,” says “doing action roles is different from doing sexy roles, although both are very physical. Both types of movies also cater to the same audience - the men.”
