JOLINA TALKS OF HER IDENTITY
CRISIS

Manila, March 7, 2000 - IDENTITY CRISIS - Bubbly Jolina Magdangal con-fesses she suffers from 'identity crisis...pero di ako tomboy.' The 'identity crisis' she speaks of is one of image, of looks. Jolina explains that on television and in personal appearances, the public expects her to be the over-dressed, over-decorated teenager - which she no longer is.
That was her fashion statement a few years back. But now that she's 21 she personally wants a more subdued, more elegant look.
Jolina says she can't drop the “cluttered” look overnight, but in due time she hopes to adopt a new and more mature fashion line. Her Star Records album composed of revivals is a step in that direction. The album cover shows Jolina looking like a lady of the `50s, sweet but sophisticated.
The album, incidentally now a platinum (meaning it sold more than 40,000 units), widened Jolina's popularity to include oldies who love her interpretation of “Crying Time,” “Smile,” “All the Way,” “Have a Good Time.”
And yes her boutique has gone nationwide with branches in Cebu and Tuguegarao. And soon even the US, West Covina in California.

SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING OLD – Jolina's starrer with Robin Padilla, Star Cinema's “Tunay na Tunay, Gets Mo? Gets Ko!,” is finally showing next week. Jolina's comic gift is, as expected, in the action-comedy with a hint of romance. But she also proves she can run, kick, fight, box like an action star.
“Kakanta na lang ako,” Jolina joked when the fiery blasting scene was about to be shot. But after the scene, where four cars were blasted, she told director Joyce Bernal, “Ulitin natin.”
She “enjoyed” the cuts and bruises on her arms and legs, after all the charming and disarming Robin was by her side. A most solicitous leading man Robin was.
By the way, the title of the Robin-Jolina starrer is at once new and old. “Gets Mo? Gets Ko!” is definitely today, while “Tunay na Tunay” is yesterday, harking back to the days of “kundiman,” given a new tune and twist.

FIL-AMERICAN BEAUTY – Seiko's newest is a Fil-American beauty, Brigette de Joya, from Seattle, she's sexually liberated, straight talking. Shades of Rosanna Roces, an original Seiko sex symbol.
Brigette is introduced in “Gigil,” where she displays her pretty face, shapely body, creamy complexion. Directed by Mauro Gia Samonte, “Gigil” also stars Nini Jacinto, Jethro Ramirez, Paula Gomez, and Leonardo Litton.
Some quotable quotes from Brigette. Bold stars who are ashamed of showing their naked bodies are hypocrites. “They should not do bold films.” Another one, “If I like a man I'll say so. I`m willing to do it with him.”
