REGAL RELEASES ‘TUGATOG’ JAO’S LAST FILM
Quezon City, Feb. 25, 2000 - Regal producer Mother Lily Monteverde is all set to release another Don Escudero film, "Tugatog," which stars Jao Mapa, Spencer Reyes, Assunta da Rossi, Oliver Hartman, Vhong Navarro, and Chris-topher Roxas.
"Tugatog" is youth-oriented, fun-filled with lots of adventure, shot on a mountain peak. "Tugatog" is the Pilipino word for peak.
"Tugatog" is also the last movie of Jao Mapa, who's concentrating on his Fine Arts studies at the University of Santo Tomas.
"It's been a long while since I last did a youth movie with lots of adventure and it's nice to be back into doing this kind of movie again," says direk Don.
A dazzling mix of adventure, suspense, comedy, drama, and action makes "Tugatog" venue for the hippest rides the youth are so into these days like mountaineering, rainforest hiking, and nature tripping.
In "Tugatog" Jao, Spencer, Assunta, Oliver, Vhong, and Christopher are a gang of teen buddies who go on a hiking adventure up a remote mountain called Tugatog.
The night before the hike, a couple of dangerous criminals stage a jailbreak and hie off to these parts and go into hiding from the law. The morning after, as the gang go on their hike, the hoods stumble upon Oliver who gets lost from the pack in the dense jungle.
There begins a ragged struggle in the boondocks as the rest of the gang try to rescue the hostaged Oliver.
