RUDY FERNANDEZ IN FIRST ACTION FLICK FOR 2000

Quezon City, Feb. 12, 2000 - For his first movie in the Year 2000, Junior Action King Rudy Fernandez is starring in his own big action movie, under Millennium Cinema. Opening March 1 is one of the biggest action movies of the new millennium titled "Palaban."

In "Palaban," Daboy plays Maj. Jack Morales, a bemedalled police officer who only wants to render good deeds for society, but evil elements stand in the way.

Daboy claims this project came at the right time when he was looking for a new kind of action movie.

"Good scripts are very scarce and I thought I'd never find a good one," he says. "But thank God, dumating itong script ng 'Palaban'. Nagustuhan ko and we started filming right away. What's good about the story is that hindi lang siya basta action movie. Nandoon pa rin 'yung puso sa istorya."

Daboy is doubly excited because he has two leading ladies in "Palaban," Ara Mina and Daisy Reyes. It is his first time to work with Ara and his second time with Daisy.

Daboy describes his shower and bed scenes with Ara as tame.

"Doing love scenes is not new to me anymore. In every movie naman na gawin ko ay talagang may kasamang ganyan. Pero hindi naman ako nag-bold kundi si Ara lang. Very tame ang love scenes namin at malinis ang pagkakakuha ng direktor namin."

It's the first time that Daboy is directed by Toto Natividad.

"Noon ko pa gustong kunin si Toto bilang direktor pero busy kasi ito. Natuwa naman ako't nagkaroon siya ng time na idirek ang pelikulang ito."

Also starring in "Palaban" is presidential son and and real-life rescue helicopter pilot Jude Estrada.
