REGAL FILM TACKLES POLICE-MILITARY RIVALRY
Quezon City, Feb. 7, 2000 - Regal Entertainment’s latest production, ''Capt. Fidel Jimenez: Magkakasubukan Tayo,'' is the first movie that tackles the perceived animosity between members of the police force and the Armed Forces.
The film stars the ''king of stunts'' Lito Lapid in the title role.
The director of the movie, Tata Esteban, said “walang diretsang aamin niyan among the police at ng military, pero matagal nang may ganyang feelings of animosity between law enforcers and the military.
This is countered by Lito Lapid, who is also the Governor of Pampanga province and has had close dealings with the police in his capacity as elected official.
Lito plays the role of a tough cop who stumbles upon the bank robbery and other illegal operations of a big syndicate protected by an army colonel (Tonton Gutierrez) who works for a corrupt congressman (Jaime Fabregas). As the honest cop pursues the case, he lands in jail for a murder charge trumped-up by his military antagonists. He escapes from military custody, there begins a saga that leads to an explosive confrontation between policemen and members of the military.
Also starring in “Capt. Fidel Jimenez: Magkakasubukan Tayo” are Ana Capri, Roy Alvarez, Camille Roxas and Patricia Dans.
