MARTIN NIEVERA BOWS TO FATE, KEEPS BUSY
Quezon City, Jan. 12, 2000 - “It’s time to move on,” Martin Nievera says as he appears to have accepted the permanence of his separation from wife Pops Fernandez and their two sons.
Martin says he has tried his best to win back Pops, but she would not take him back even when he swore that all is over between him and erstwhile lover Katrina Ojeda.
The singer-TV host admits that he caused the break up of their marriage, that it is all his fault.
“Past is past,” he says, and he does not need a piece of paper to show the annulment of their marriage.
He claims that there was a period his world revolved around Pops, to a point that he lost his own identity. He confessed that he really wanted his entire family to live in Hawaii, but Pops refused because of her career here. "Now, I have my own world where I belong. I am what I am," says Martin.
On Jan. 15, he starts the "Martin Nievera XVII Cross-over Live Tour" at the Sinulog Festival, Water-front Hotel, Cebu, on Jan. 22 it moves to La Salle Coliseum, Bacolod and on Jan. 29 to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Hall, Davao..
He has a grand birthday concert on Feb. 5 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, titled "Martin Nievera Live!"
He will be backed by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. The whole concert will be taped for release as an album.
Separate from the concert is a Birthday TV to be produced by ABS-CBN and directed by Johnny Manahan. On Feb. 13, he joins Zsa Zsa Padilla at the Araneta Coliseum for “Divine Madness” which is a Valentine Concert.
