EX-NPA LEADER CONFIRMS MINDANAO KILLING FIELDS MASSACRE

Cagayan de Oro City, Jan. 31, 2000 - A high ranking official of the New People’s Army has confirmed the mass killing in a barangay in this city years ago.

Ka Dory, former liaison officer of the CPP-NPA-NDF of the four provinces and in Northern Mindanao, admitted her own participation in the killings in barangay Taglimao, which she described as so merciless the killers did not honor blood relations.

Now known as Private Enercita Lopez , and an active member of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Ka Dory is with the 4th Infantry Diamond division.

She said the mass killing occurred in the early and late part of the 80s, at the height of the paranoia about DPAs (Deep Penetration Agents) or double agents within the NPA.

In the Caraga Region where the mass killing took place, Ka Dory disclosed that she even ordered her own brother executed.

Lopez was the team leader of the semi-legal team and the Sandatahang Yunit Pangpropaganda. She was also assigned as medic until she was promoted to head the Kumander Kamandag Front together with Father Navarro. She was later promoted to lead the Agusan Norte, Surigao Sur and Surigao Norte fronts.

Lopez denounced the Communist movement and condemned her comrades, including CPP founder Jose Maria Sison, for denying the issue.

She challenged the communist leadership to come out in the open and discuss the truth about the mass killings. She said that she is willing to testify against her former comrades.
