LAS PINAS GETS AWARD FOR MODEL HEALTH CENTER
Las Pinas City, Jan. 13, 2000 - The Department of Health (DOH) has cited Las Piñas main health center as a model public health facility in recognition of its quality services to the people.
The Las Pinas City government was also awarded P1 million cash as part of the prizes in the DOH "Sentrong Sigla" contest nationwide. Sentrong Sigla is a movement spearheaded by the health department in cooperation with local government units aimed at promoting quality service by health centers and hospitals to the people, particularly the poor.
Mayor Nene Aguilar said he is very proud to receive the award on behalf of the doctors, nurses, and all public health personnel of the city who have provided unselfish and dedicated service to the people of Las Piñas.
The Las Piñas city government has more than 20 modern and newly renovated health centers in the city's 20 barangays. The centers are complete with facilities and equipment for better health services accessible to all city residents.
Health Secretary Alberto Romualdez noted the Las Piñas city government's efforts in bringing public health service closer to the people.
