ARA MINA'S "PHONE SEX" GROSSES P5M ON 1ST DAY
Quezon City, July 16,1999 - Regal Entertainment's "Phone Sex" is raking it in, with opening day box-office receipts totalling P5M, firming up film star Ara Mina's hold on the throne as "Box Office Queen" of the moment.
With Ara Mina providing the spark and the flames on the other end of the telephone line, "Phone Sex" opened last July 14 to Standing Room Only crowds, and the long lines of fans continue to form as the movie creates waves with its novel plot and frank dialogue.
Jose Javier Reyes directed the film, which almost lost its raunchy dialogue when reviewed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
Ara Mina defended the dialogue. "The movie is about sexual gratification via telephone conversation. It will not be realistic to have a chaste dialogue."
"Phone Sex" uncovers the self-gratifying but illicit and dangerous relationships that develop between crank sex callers and their sometimes willing victims.
In the film, Ara Mina and crank sex caller John Apacible burn the lines as sex phone pals, and push the sensuous limits of mainstream sex cinema.
Also in "Phone Sex" are Mike Magat, Samantha Lopez, and Lee Robin Salazar.
