ROMEO VASQUEZ IN RP TO STAR
IN GMA-7 SOAP
Quezon City, May 12, 1999
- Veteran actor Romeo Vasquez is in town. The former husband of Amalia
Fuentes and father of child star Liezl (now Mrs. Albert Martinez) has a
pivotal role in the GMA-7 dramatic mini-series "Di Ba't Ikaw"
which also stars Jomari Yllana, Jao Mapa and Jessa Zaragoza.
"I was really honored to be a part of this soap opera," said the actor who was in the United States when he got a phone call from his daughter Liezl that GMA-7 is interested to offer him a role in the mini-series.
"It is a big honor to be picked for the part," Bobby Vasquez said.
He made his acting comeback many years ago in "The Viizconde Massacre" and received critical acclaim.
It is the first time for him to appear in a TV soap opera of this magnitude. Despite the hectic schedule which sometimes stretches from 7 am to 7am the next day, he has no complaints.
He is awed at GMA-7's approach to TV production. "Parang pelikula and ginagawa namin," Bobby observed.
"Di Ba't Ikaw" is directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, who has worked with Bobby in the past. It will have a special 2-hour TV-movie premiere on May 16, and starts its daily Monday-Friday run the next day.
In the series, Pilar Pilapil plays Romeo's wife, while Ali Sotto takes on the role of his mistress.
