GLYDEL TOTALLY NUDE IN SCENE WITH NORA

Manila, Jan. 26, 1999 - Glydel Mercado was suspended for 6 months by the local actors' guild for claiming that actor Chuck Perez sexually harassed her. With the suspension finally lifted, Glydel is back with a vengeance, starring in SIDHI, a heavy drama which features Superstar Nora Aunor and award-winning actor Albert Martinez..

The 23-year-old sexy star who has been going steady for almost a year with actor Tonton Gutierrez, is already being tagged the next sex empress of local filmdom.

SIDHI is written by Ricky Lee from Rolando Tinio's ANG KWENTO NI AH and is set in the 1950s about a deaf-mute (Nora) whose dying father arranges in marriage to a golddigger (Albert). Glydel plays Mayang, Albert 's first wife who gets to live with him and Nora.

Glydel and Nora's first scene together shows the young actress taking a bath in the river, totally nude.

"Ate Guy was so shocked when I suddenly disrobed in front of her," Glydel said.

She considers SIDHI the boldest movie she's done in her 5-year showbiz experience.

"I accepted the role no matter how bold it is because of Ate Guy. Had it not been a movie with Nora Aunor, she would not have accepted the project, Glydel claims.

"Tonton was totally against my frontal nudity in the movie, but I explained to him how big the project is and he understood," she added.

As the only breadwinner in her fatherless family, Glydel takes her responsibilities seriously. Her 2-year, 3-picture contract with Crown Seven Ventures stipulates that she can't marry and have a child for the duration of the contract.

After SIDHI, Glydel will star in MISTER MO, LOVER BOY KO, a remake of a 1980s hit which starred Elisabeth Oropesa. Oropesa will be in the movie, along with Eddie Gutierrez and Gary Estrada.
