Born in Cebu City, Philippines to Manny & Sheila Cabase, Amapola began her musical career at the age of five, singing her father's compositions & her mother's lyrics in the Visayan movies subsequently starring in her own films as a child star. Her career blossomed & took her to Manila where her television, stage, recording & film career began & flourished.
Amapola established herself as a super talent in her native country. Dubbed the 'Jukebox Queen' (because Jukeboxes were filled with her hit singles), she received accolades for her excellence as a recording artist (with 5 Gold albums and over 100 single records to her credit) and twice awarded the "Awit Awards" (the Asian equivalent of the US Grammy awards) for "Best Female Vocalist". Other major awards were bestowed on her, notably the National Press "Hall of Fame" Award. She was also a motion picture actress (playing feature and lead roles plus several others as a child star, & singing the musical scores for many others), and as an instrumentalist (playing 8 musical instruments & excelling as a classic pianist).
She sought more challenges & went on concert tours in Asia & the Pacific, and eventually the US Mainland - juggling appearances at The Fairmont Hotels in San Francisco and Dallas & in her own Magazine TV-Variety show hosted "Amapola Presents" in KEMO-TV San Francisco, California for eight years. Her show still holds the record as the longest running Local Magazine Variety Show outside of Hollywood. Directed by Dirk Dirksen and syndicated in the West Coast, it was slotted at prime time on Saturday evenings & replayed on Sunday afternoons.
Scaling the heights of her musical career took her around the world inland & at sea as headliner onboard some of the world's most luxurious ships.
Included among her US performances to date, are appearances at:
The Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco The Sahara Hotel, Las Vegas Plaza Hotel, Downtown Las Vegas The Kahala Hilton, Honolulu Hyatt on Waikiki, Honolulu Stern Grove, San Francisco The Town Hall, New York Waikiki Shell, Honolulu The Miyako Hotel, Japan Town SF Honolulu International Concert Hall The Grand Hotel, Washington DC The Shrine Auditorioum
She has toured Europe and Asia, performing at, among others:

Amapola appeared in the Venetian Room of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco headlining an SRO concert fund-raiser for then California Governor Jerry Brown and merited a 5 minute ovation and a plaque of appreciation from the Governor.
She recorded a single released by Warner/Electra/Asylum (WEA) of the Philippines) & maintained Top 10 airplay for several weeks, ultimately rising to the #2. That same year Amapola recorded a live Album during her one woman concert at the Manila Hotel - the first live in concert album recording ever produced in the Philippines.
Amapola will be the featured artist and will be interviewed on PhilMusic Radio - Orlando, Florida, USA by host Kathy Llamas on Jan. 22, 1999. The PhilMusic Radio website is at: http://www.philradio.com/
