PRESIDENTIAL SEND-OFF FOR
RP ASIAD TEAM
Manila, Nov. 27, 1998
- President Joseph Estrada will lead the country's top officials at a send-off
ceremony for the Philippine delegation to the 13th Bangkok Asian Games
on Dec. 1 at the Heroes Hall in Malacañang.
Estrada is scheduled to meet the athletes and officials. before turning over the Philippine flag to RP delegation chef de mission Pocholo Veguillas.
The Malacañang affair will start at 3 p.m. with Bishop Camilo Gregorio delivering the opening prayer to be followed by the singing of the national anthem led by Jakarta SEA Games triple gold medallist Pia Adelle Reyes.
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Tuason will give the opening remarks while Philippine Olympic Committee president Cristy Ramos Jalasco will introduce the members of the delegation.
PSC commissioner Monico Puentevella, who will lead the RP delegation in singing the "Ako ay Pilipino," is the program host.
Before going to Malacanang, the members of the Philippine delegation will be joining a pep rally together with PSC employees and national sports association officials at 9:30 a.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
