ESPINOSA DEFENDS TITLE IN CALIFORNIA NOV. 28
Manila, Nov. 8, 1998 - The boxing circle has just received confirmation that World Boxing Council featherweight champion Luisito Espinosa will defend his title against challenger Kennedy McKinney on November 28.
The fight will be held at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Palm Springs, California and not in Corpus Christi, Texas as erroneously reported by some Manila newspapers earlier.
Espinosa is now undergoing high altitude training with Larry Goodsen, in preparation for his seventh title defense.
The Filipino champ had originally wanted a non-title contest because of concern that he may not be in the right shape to meet a title challenge. Espinosa sustained a 15-stitch wound during his 11- round title defense fight last August against Mexican Juan Carlos Ramirez.
