BOYET LAMBASTS CHEAP GIMMICKRY IN ARA FILM PROMO
Manila, Nov. 27, 1998 - Christopher de Leon, a born again Christian, is extremely disappointed over what he terms "cheap gimmickry" in the promotion of his movie PAHIRAM KAHIT SANDALI where he stars with new sensation Ara Mina.
He claims Regal Films could have sold it as a "morally sound" picture instead of accentuating the hot love scenes he had with Ara Mina for publication.
What dismayed Christopher even more is the fact that he was part of the conceptualization of the movie.
"It's about a wife's struggle to keep the family intact," says the multi-awarded drama actor who added that he did his sexy scenes "with honesty and in good taste."
Cheap tricks, he says, would not in any way help in the upliftment of the movie industry.
"Instead of elevating the taste of the audience, we dish out publicity that caters to their animal instinct. How can we expect intelligent viewers?" The actor asks.
Regal matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde is aware of his bruised feelings, but has not yet communicated with him.
