SHAWIE NO OPRAH, WANTS TO QUIT TALK SHOW

Quezon City, Nov. 19, 1998 - Sharon Cuneta's comeback vehicle, the weekly talk show SHARON on ABS-CBN, opened grandly with no less than President Joseph Estrada candidly exchanging banter and singing a duet with the show's host.

Many people think it went downhill after that, mainly because the show lacks a definitive format.

And now, it seems the Megastar herself agrees with her critics, and wants to quit the show at the end of her contract. She signed up for only 13 episodes, so there's only a few more weeks to agonize over.

Manila Times columnist Mario Bautista wrote that Sharon is reportedly not pleased with the way her show is going, particularly when most of the guests she gets are movie stars whose main aim is to plug their current films.

There are also reports that a major reason for quitting is to rest and try to get pregnant again.

As Mrs. Francis Pangilinan, Sharon really wants to have a baby and is not discouraged by the multiple miscarriages she suffered in the past months.

She also needs to rest and lose some weight, according to even her most avid fans. The cruel TV cameras show a very matronly Sharon whose appearance is not helped by frumpy dresses.
