FPJ GETS P100-MILLION FOR SANMIG BEER AD
Manila, Nov. 18, 1998 - Fernando Poe Jr. is really "The King" of local filmdom, not just in terms of drawing power in the box office, but also in the recognition given him as the major endorser of the country's undisputable top beer.
A reported P100 million talent fee was what it cost San Miguel Corporation to get President Estrada's best friend to do his umpteenth beer ad for the country's biggest food and beverage company. In addition, FPJ received a bonus: a Land Rover costing a cool P2 million.
The ad campaign consists of three sets of ads, two of which have been shot.
The commercials will be released on a seasonal basis, with three different versions shown every six months. Already running is one with a centennial theme.
Advertising circles admit that Ronnie Poe is worth all that and more, and consider his contract with San Miguel a genuine casting coup which would be really impossible to top.
