ALMA CONCEPCION PLAYS DRUG DEALER IN COMEBACK FLICK
Manila, Nov. 15, 1998 - Alma Concepcion is finally back before the cameras, starring in a full- length feature film.
And guess what? The actress whose incarceration in Guam for possession of drugs made headlines around the world is playing the role of a fake drug dealer.
Alma is naturally very excited about the new project. ''I'm so grateful to Star Cinema 'cause they've always believed in me. I've done movies with them before, but this project is really special 'cause it's my very first movie after my Guam ordeal.''
She welcomes the chance to be doing a comedy for a change.
''The movie is called KAMING MGA TIGASIN. It's something light and funny. I play the leader of an illegal drug syndicate selling fake Viagra. My leading men are Eddie Garcia and Victor Neri. I feel so at home in comedy now 'cause, after Guam, nobody can make me cry anymore. I'm the happiest person now. I can laugh out loud all day!'' said a bubbly and beaming Alma.
Portraying the role of a fake drug syndicate leader does not bother her, because she's completely recovered from her traumatic Guam experience. She had learned what she had to learn. That's why she wants to reach out to people and share all the lessons that have made her take a 360-degree change.
Since her repatriation from Guam several months ago, Alma has been concentrating on drug rehab and inspirational work with prisoners. She even has her own ministry and charitable foundation. Her work has recently been given national recognition.
''I feel honored that Bro. Mike Velarde invited President Erap and I to speak at the Luneta grandstand. I'll also go to Cebu for an anti-drug campaign. I've also put up my own foundation, Total Health Care, for street children and cancer patients. Anyone is welcome to send their donations. They may contact me through (0917) 527-7539, 1277-61323, or by Email at: almacon@hotmail.com.''
