CHIN CHIN, ANNA CAPRI AND CES QUESADA IN GERMANY FILMING
Manila, Nov. 12, 1998 - The Philippine Daily Inquirer recently reported three Filipina actresses shooting a foreign film in Germany entitled "Manila". Chin Chin Gutierrez, Anna Capri and Ces Quesada left Manila for shooting schedule that could extend till December. They are now in Hamburg and will later move to Frankfurt.
The movie is being directed by a German filmaker, Romuald Karmakar whose popular work, Der Totmacher (The Deathmaker) in 1995 is an account of a true-to-life mass murderer named Fritz Haarmann, also known in Germany as the "Werewolf of Hanover".
"Manila" is not expected to be as gruesome as this 1995 psycho-chiller. It is about people who get stranded in Manila's International Airport because of flight delay. To shoot this, the movie's producers are building a replica of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Germany.
Gutierrez and Capri auditioned for the roles only four weeks ago. Other actresses mentioned for the roles were Melanie Marquez, Maritoni Fernandez, Cherry Pie Picache and Anjanette Abayari, among othres.
In the movie, while waiting at the airport, Capri meets Gutierrez, married several years to a German guy. She's quite snobbish about knowing how to read and speak Dutch, but goes out of her way to help Capri read the letter of her prospective German employer. But Gutierrez translates the letter wrongly in order to disappoint Capri.
