when Filipino- American Greyson Dean Secades, the two -year- old son of
Mario and Pamela Secades and grandson of international singer Liberty Palileo
was crowned "Beauties & Beaus Most Handsome"
The Pageant took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Houston, Texas on October 11, 1998. It was open to boys and girls, from new- born babies up to 15- year- old teeners. Greyson was the only Filipino- American contestant.
The three Judges couldn't resist Greyson's big brown eyes, light brown hair and adorable dimples, which were highlighted by the beautifully-embroidered Barong Tagalog handcrafted by Eming specifically to be modelled for the occasion.
After comparing notes lengthily, the judges all agreed that Greyson was the most beautiful child of the evening.
What made the selection even more remarkable is the fact that in the history of the Houston contest, Greyson was the first boy to win as "overall most beautiful."
The Babes and Beaus pageant was directed by Julie Addison.
About Greyson: Greyson Dean Secades was born August 17, 1996 in Houston, Texas. His proud grandmother Liberty Palileo was the first to hold him after he was born, saw his lovely eyes and dimples and called him " POGI. " The name, which everyone considers very appropriate, has stuck. The family has called him Pogi ever since.
He's an only child and loves to play ball, His best friends are his cousins " Lauren, Darby and Alex " his favorites toys are Elmo, Barnie and Ernie.
Greyson his polite and well-mannered, for someone so young. He says excuse me, please and thank you.
Greyson's maternal grandmother (Pamela's Mother ) is a country singer and songwriter.
His paternal grandmother (Rio's Mother) is Liberty Palileo. She's the first undefeated champion of TAWAG NG TANGHALAN and the winner of the 1976 TOKYO YAMAHA SONG FESTIVAL. Greyson's father is Mario (Rio) Secades, originally from San Juan, Metro Manila. He attended school at Saint Aquinas high school , then moved to California. In 1986 he moved to Houston, Texas with his mother and sister. He met his wife Pamela Gay, Greyson's mother, a native Texan raised in Santa Fe, Texas.
Pamela is a former beauty queen and an honor student in Diagnostic school in Houston, Texas where she is pursuing a career in the medical field. Greyson's grandfather, ( Pamela's father ) is Charles " Skip " Gay, Galveston County Precinct 4 Constable serving his 4th. term.
