RP-AUSTRALIA DANCE SPORT DUEL IN NOVEMBER
Manila, Oct. 25, 1998 - The Ninoy Aquino Stadium (formerly Rizal Memorial) will be the scene next month of the most colorful and biggest ballroom competition between Australian and Filipino dance sport athletes.
The Australian Dance Sport Council of the Philippines and the Philippines Sports Commission will stage a display competition between mixed teams of the best Australian and Filipino dancers.
Each country will be represented by two pairs each in the Modern event and another two pairs each in the Latin American event. The match will demonstrate the strengths and styles of the participants from both countries.
The Australian Embassy is coordinating the staging of this event with Becky Garcia, president of Dance Sport Council; Commissioner Tisha Abundo and Mr. Ramon Suzana of PSC.
This Australian-Philippines Dance Sport team match , scheduled for November 23, will be open to the public and admission is free. As the highly acclaimed film "Strictly Ballroom" showed, the Australians are accomplished ballroom and dance sport competitors.
