DENNIS RODMAN'S BROD DROPPED BY CHOWKING TO RESERVE
Makati City, Oct. 13, 1998 - Dennis Rodman's younger step-brother Philander Rodman IV has been dropped from the final lineup of Chowking and relegated to the reserve list. Chowking mentor Leo Austria described the half-Filipino Rodman, nicknamed "Big Foot," as lacking in professional experience.
With no collegiate basketball experience, Rodman's background in the game is mostly from playing with friends.
''At the moment, Philander's still raw and must learn to adapt the Philippine Baasketball League's style of play. He needs to polish his skills, put more weight and add power,'' Austria said.
With that decision, the 5-foot-11 Big Foot will not be in the final lineup when Chowking plays in the 2nd Yakult Centennial Cup Saturtday.
Chowking manager Jesse Chua said all is not lost for Philander. ''Philander, just like the others, will have to persevere and earn their spots with the team. We use the merit system here.''
