OLYMPIC TRAINING FOR RP FOOTBALL COACHES
Pasig City, Oct. 12, 1998 - Thirty Filipino coaches are now finishing a two-week seminar on football methods and coaching skills conducted by a football expert sent by the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) at the Philsports (ULTRA) Center.
The course ends Saturday, Oct. 14, and features Jimmy Shoulder, former professional football player from the United Kingdom, former national coach and manager of the Australian football team as well as director for coaching of the Welsh National Youth Team.
Shoulder was selected to share his expertise with Filipino football coaches for his extensive experience in training young football players and transforming them into World Cup qualifiers.
Coaches now undergoing training are from Iloilo, Masbate, Laguna, Davao, Negros Occidental, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio, Palawan, Cebu, Calbayog and the National Capital Region.
FIFA teaching materials and Adidas equipment have been supplied to the participants for effective absorption and application of the course teachings.
The Olympic Solidarity Coaching Course is a football coaches' development undertaking conducted annually all over the world under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, FIFA and the Philippine Olympic Committee.
