CHAD BORJA'S OPERATION SUCCESSFUL
Makati City, Oct. 13, 1998
- Good news for fans of Chad Borja. The singer is recovering well from
a successful four-hour operation, performed at the Makati Medical Center
last Thursday, on Chad's cancerous thyroid .
Within two days of the operation, Chad was already on the phon giving the good news to close friends, who he thanked profusely for their prayers and other moral and spiritual support.
Chad's ailment was diagnosed only recently and shocked the entertainment industry.
Two other prominent show business personalities, who both survived the disease after undergoing the same operation years ago, were among the first to assure Chad before his hospitalization.
Singer/TV host, and now RPN executive Jeanne Young and drama actress-producer Coney Reyes told Chad of their experiences. Jeanne recovered her speaking voice, but not enough to sing professionally.
The Philippine Star's Ricky Lo writes that Chad is expected to check out of the hospital soon. Lo reports that the malignant tumor taken out of Chad's throat was more than one centimeter in diameter, only in its "first stage" and therefore very curable. Doctors describe thyroid cancer as the "friendliest" kind of cancer and the most curable, Lo adds.
