12TH STAR AWARDS FOR TV:
POPS, MARTIN, GMA

Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez had an emotional reunion on nationwide
television Saturday as they received the Star Awards for Best Male and
Female TV Hosts for their Sunday show ASAP at the UP Theater. It was the
first public appearance together for the estranged couple.
Martin read a poem he wrote for his wife, who was holding back her tears. Pops tried in vain to stay calm,and thanked Martin for ''teaching me how to be strong.'' Martin planted a kiss on her shoulder.
The big winner of the evening was GMA 7. The network's shows and talents won 23 of the 38 awards at stake, including Best Station with Balanced Programming. ABS-CBN Channel 2 trailed with only 13 awards.
