AUDITIONS FOR MUSICAL "RENT"

- Atlantis Productions, the New Voice Company and Music Museum announce
the first general auditions for the Manila production of the hit Broadway
musical Rent. The Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning rock musical by Jonathan
Larson will premiere on Asian soil in the Philippines next year.
The musical, inspired by Puccini's La Boheme, originally opened at the Theatre Workshop in New York City before transferring to the Neederlander Theatre on Broadway where it has been playing to sold out performances.
It went on to win four Tony Awards, including Best Music, Best Score and Best Book, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, 6 Drama Desk Awards, The Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama League Award, 3 Obie Awards, and 2 Theatre World Awards.
Auditions will be held on Monday, October 26, 1998 at the Music Museum in Greenhills. Artists are advised to come prepared with a recent photograph (3x5 or bigger) and one song accompanied by a minus one only. The song must be a pop or rock ballad (No showtunes).
Auditions are open to all performers between the ages of 17-45 regardless of previous experience. Sign up begins at 4 p.m. with auditions starting 6 p.m.
The Philippine production of ``RENT'' will be directed by Roberto T. Garcia. Bobby is not a stranger to the musical, having been involved with its Toronto and New York productions.
