TYPHOON SIGNAL 3 OVER MANILA, BICOL, TAGALOG PROVINCES
Manila, Oct. 22, 1998 - With the approach of supertyphoon Loleng (international code name Babs), Metro Manila is now under storm signal number 3, along with the provinces of Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Quezon and Polillo island.
Loleng's winds have lost a little strength as the weather disturbance hit land, but its winds of 165 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 200 kilometers per hour still pose considerable danger to lives and property.
Loleng is moving very slowly, at 13 kph, in a north-northwesterly direction, headed for Manila, adjoining provinces and possibly Central Luzon.
The storm is expected to be in the Manila or Central Luzon area tonight up to dawn tomorrow, and to exit through Manila Bay by morning.
Typhoon signal number 2 is now over Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Mindoro, Romblon, Masbate, Northern Samar and the Central Luzon provinces.
Typhoon signal Number one is over the rest of northern Luzon, Eastern and Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao.
