BOBBY ANDREWS: NEW LIFE, NEW ROLES

Manila, Sept. 24, 1998 - Public sympathy was definitely for Bobby Andrews when his on-screen sweetheart Angelu de Leon became pregnant and started to live in with her off-screen lover Joko Diaz.

Bobby's entire show business career was based, at that time, on his make-believe love team with Angelu. He appeared to all and sundry to have no other life but as the other half of that silver screen romantic pair.

Unknown to all but a few, however, was Bobby's secret life. He had a real-life girl friend, Bien Co, who's reportedly from an affluent Chinese family. Pretty enough to be a movie star herself, she opted to stay away from the cameras even while going through her college requirement of on- the-job training as production assistant at Viva Films.

That's where she met Bobby, who is a Viva contract star.

The Bobby-Bien romance has been going on for a long time, and was in full bloom even before Angelu's pregnancy became fodder for the rumor mill.

With his movie love team hopelessly shattered by Angelu's motherhood, Bobby is now reportedly thinking seriously of marriage, and might even beat the Joko-Angelu duo to the altar.

While his personal life is going through major changes, Bobby's on-screen image is taking a path directly opposite the sweety-sweety good boy roles he's been identified with.

He's a bad guy, a rapist, in the movie KATAWAN starring Rosanna Roces and Christopher de Leon. Bobby is finally separating the man from the boy.
