LONDON CONCERTS: NORA CANCELS,
BOYET OK
Manila, Sept. 21, 1998 -
Superstar Nora Aunor's concert in London, scheduled for this month, has
been cancelled.
One of the reasons given was the failure of a member of the entourage to secure a visa. Sources hint that the visa applications were attended to only a few days before the actual departure.
A newspaper columnist claims there are other reasons for the cancellation.
Nora's public life became even more public when she openly campaigned for and joined her buddy Joseph Estrada. Her presence in all the political rallies ensured thick crowds in every corner of the country where the Erap group campaigned.
After Estrada's victory, rumors started hounding Nora. There were malicious reports that she was commuting to and from shooting locations using the presidential helicopter. President Estrada himself denied this.
Later, rumor mongers feasted on the luxurious camper van that she used during the shooting of SIDHI in Nueva Ecija. Unfortunately for those wags, the van actually belongs to Fernando Poe, Jr., another close friend of both Estrada and Aunor.
Back to the London concert scene, Nora's fans will probably have to console themselves with a show starring the ex-husband of their idol.
News has leaked that Christopher de Leon turned down a hosting job for the Star Awards on October 10 because he will be in London for some shows.
He is now scheduled to tape several advance episodes of his TV weekly sitcom HIWALAY KUNG HIWALAY DAW co-starring Zsa Zsa Padilla.
The London show also means taking a leave from shooting the movie KATAWAN, KALULUWA where he stars with Rosanna Roces, who's also producing the film.
