ROBIN HURT IN FREAK STUNT ACCIDENT

Pasay City, Sept. 7, 1998 - Comebacking actor Robin Padilla cheated death yesterday noon, in a vehicular accident at about the same time as Ric Segreto's fatal motorcycle mishap a few kilometers away on the same street.

Robin was doing a car chase scene when the vehicle he was driving went out of control and turned turtle.

He was rushed to the Manila Doctor's Hospital on UN Avenue, Ermita, and has been pronounced out of danger.

Initial reports said the controversial action star is expected to check out of the hospital and wants to resume shooting as soon as possible.

The daredevil stunt Robin was executing was part of a scene in his latest movie, his attempt at re- launching his film career which was interrupted by three years while he was in prison for illegal possession of firearms.

Film industry observers commented that it was "eerie how Robin's accident happened a few minutes after Ric Segreto died from another vehicular accident, considering that Robin's stunts were being shot at the north end of Buendia inside the CCP complex, a few kilometes from the Buendia south end where Segreto met his bloody death."
