JOMARI SIZZLER REPLACES CHRISTOPHER FLICK
Manila, Aug. 28, 1998 - PAHIRAM KAHIT SANDALI which stars Christopher de Leon, Alice Dixson, and Ara Mina was scrapped and left out of the list of three Regal anniversary offerings, replaced by SAGAD SA INIT which stars Jomari Yllana, Sharmaine Arnaiz, and Ara Mina.
SAGAD SA INIT revolves around a call boy-macho dancer (Jomari) and two daring women: a powerful VIP's wife (Sharmaine) of a powerful man and his mistress (Ara).
Both Sharmaine and Ara portray characters who are lusty to the point of being nymphos, and find satisfaction in Jomari, who is only too willing to satisfy their lust. Playing Jomari's best friend is Cholo Escano, also a call boy-macho dancer.
As the star strippers of the macho-dancing club, Jomari and Cholo, at first hesitant, were finally able to get the feel of their role, thanks to the motivation from Director Uro de la Cruz and Regal producer Douglas Quijano. When Jomari and Cholo finally got the hang of it, they were better than the pros.
The bold role is new to Cholo, who started in youth oriented pictures and later branched out to singing. It is, of course, nothing new to Jomari, who has portrayed serious and sexy roles, like the call boy and pimp in the filmbio of Sarah Jane Salazar (opposite Gelli de Belen) and the obsessed and violent ad model in DILIRYO (with Giselle Toengi).
Sharmaine Arnaiz tackles her boldest role so far in this movie. She goes beyond the requirements of her much-acclaimed movie MILAGROS, her first solo starrer.
The bold role, of course, in not a novel thing for Ara Mina, who is considered today's hottest rising star. She was the bad girl in "Maldita," the "torera" in "Curacha," and now the "querida" in SAGAD SA INIT. In the upcoming "Tatlo...Magkasalo," Ara swings both ways, with Rita Avila playing a lesbian and with Tonton Gutierrez as her husband. Ara is increasingly being referred to as the next Rosanna Roces.
Jomari is both a sex symbol and a fine actor. The unwed father-to-be is waiting for the November date with the stork of live-in sweetheart Aiko Melendez. But impending fatherhood merely increased, instead of dimmed, his popularity. Par for the course, considering the list of sexy unwed fathers in local filmdom: Aga Muhlach, Gardo Versoza, Lee Robin Salazar, Dingdong Avanzado, Gary Estrada, Raymond Bagatsing, Jay Manalo, Cesar Montano.
