MARK ANTHONY APPEALS FOR
ONE MORE CHANCE
Manila, Aug. 12, 1998
- A tearful Mark Anthony Fernandez made a public apology on nationwide
TV and appealed to his supporters for another chance to revive his acting
career which has been adversely affected by one misdeed after another.
The young actor, son of action giant Rudy Fernandez and now First Lady of Paranaque, actress Alma Moreno, humbled himself yesterday on ABS-CBN's top-rating talk show, "Today with Kris."
"Nakikiusap ako sa mga supporters ko na bigyan sana ako ng isa pang pagkakataon...," Mark pleaded. The actor also begged forgiveness from his father and his family for all the troubles he has caused them.
The young actor also took responsibility for the failure of his father to be chosen LAMMP official candidate for Mayor of Quezon City to run against incumbent Mayor Mel Mathay. Fellow actor and QC Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista was given the slot instead and lost to Mathay by a slim margin. Breaking a gentleman's agreement, a dejected Rudy Fernandez turned around and campaigned for Herbert's opponent Brigido Simon.
"Gusto ko sanang humingi ng sorry sa Papa ko, kung hindi sana sa akin, nakaupo na siya. Sorry, sorry, sorry..." a jittery, apparently confused Mark declared on national television.
Mark has gone back to school and co-stars with his real-life guardian, Richard Gomez, and Gelli de Belen in the forthcoming action-drama WALANG KATUMBAS ANG DUGO.
He has just been fined for flashing a dirty finger at members of media inside a courtroom. A case of grave threats filed by an American he allegedly threatened with a bread knife is likely to be dropped, following efforts at an out-of-court settlement initiated by Mark's mother Alma.
