LEA SALONGA JOINS INTERNATIONAL STARS IN
MULAN SOUNDTRACK
Manila, August 11, 1998
- Our very own Lea Salonga joins forces with international singers Donnie
Osmond, 98 Degress, Beth Fowler, Marnie Nixon, RCA recording artist
Christina Aguilera and Grammy-award winner Stevie Wonder to complete
the powerful Walt Disney Records soundtrack of Disney's 36th full-length
animation feature film, Mulan.
Locally distributed by Viva Records, Lea sings Mulan's carrier single "Reflection", a beautiful ballad which is also the emotional center of the film wherein the title character longs to discover her true self. Grammy-nominated composer Matthew Wilder was overwhelmed with Lea's dynamic performance during its recording, "I was on the verge of tears at the recording session. It was incredibly stirring and I was overflowing with emotions," noted Wilder.
Lea, whose international career hit the top after she did the West End and Boradway hit musical Miss Saigon, made her Disney debut in 1992 as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin.
