SAN MIGUEL BEATS POPCOLA, ALASKA OVER SHELL
Quezon City, July 25, 1998 - San Miguel finished a 3-game sweep of Pop Cola last night, winning 92-79, while Alaska Milk evened it out with a victory over Formula Shell, 88-86.
A frustrated Alaska Milk team salvaged what was a losing game when Rodney Santos scored four seconds before the game ended, leading the Milkmen to victory.
Meantime, Pop Cola has reportedly requested PBA Commissioner Jun Bernardino to investigate its erstwhile import Sherell Ford, who is suspected of using drugs.
Yanga wrote Bernardino to look into the "miserable performance of Ford, particularly during the first half of their game against San Miguel last Tuesday.
"We suspect that, judging from the way he played, he could possibly be under the influence of drugs," Yanga wrote.
Yanga added that he was requesting the inquiry for the sole purpose of preserving the integrity of the league.
