CENTENNIAL CAGERS SWAMP PBA ALL-STARS
Pasay City, July 13, 1998 - The Bangkok-bound RP Centennial Team made it two in a row against the Philippine Basketball Association All-Stars, with a 107-92 victory last night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The national team earlier scored a so-so 114-109 victory over the PBA crew in Cebu City, but the two wins are not enough to please Centennial team coach Tim Cone.
"The players looked a little mechanical in offense at times," Cone said. "From a coaching standpoint, I appreciate that because they are really trying to execute what we're doing in practice."
Describing some of the play as robot-like, Cone explained that "it seems as though they are trying so hard that they're losing some of their individual games. It makes them look like robots rather than free-flowing."
