RUFFA'S MOVIES STILL BANNED IN MANILA

Manila, July 22, 1998 - Despite a warm welcome and words of reconciliation and forgiveness from newly-elected Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, the movies of Ruffa Gutierrez remain banned and cannot be shown in theaters within the city of Manila.

Mayor Atienza has left the decision on the ban to the City Council, and Councilors will have to cast their votes on the issue, then draft a resolution lifting the ban.

Word is that the City Council has more pressing problems and has not even scheduled the Ruffa ban on their agenda.

Ruffa visited the Manila City Hall during the City Council's first session upon invitation of Mayor Lim's son, Councilor Kim Atienza. Kim is a close friend of Ruffa, and was one of the special guests at her birthday party where she launched her Roof-A-Child foundation.
