KRIS AFRAID TO SHOOT IN
VIGAN
Manila, July 21, 1998
- When key sequences of the remake of the Filipino movie classic ANG PANDAY
are shot in Vigan, its leading lady will not be around.
Actress Kris Aquino, starring in the movie opposite San Juan Mayor Jinggoy Estrada, does not want to be working or filming in Vigan or anywhere in the Ilocos provinces.
When told she would have to shoot some sequences in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, the daughter of former President Cory Aquino declined.
"Ayoko doon. Takot ako sa Vigan. Baka kung ano ang gawin doon sa akin," she was quoted by the Philippine Daily Inquirer as saying.
"Si Jinggoy na lang ang papuntahin nila sa Vigan. Hanggang Subic na lang siguro ako," Kris added.
Kris probably fears that the very clannish Ilocanos have not forgiven her mother for leading the "EDSA Revolt" which forced the Marcoses into involuntary exile in the United States. During the 1986 Presidential Snap Election, Cory Aquino lost dismally in Vigan, where her public market campaign rally was largely ignored by residents.
