DAISY REYES IN HOT WATER OVER 3 PASSPORTS
Manila, July 13, 1998 - Daisy Reyes, former beauty queen and actress, will appear before the National Bureau of Investigation today in connection with charges of falsification of public documents filed against her.
NBI against discovered three passports, bearing her name but carrying three different birthdates, in her possession when she returned recently from the United States.
Reyes, a 1996 Binibining Pilipinas-World title holder, explained that the first two passports were given to her by labor recruiters in her days as a singer/entertainer in Japan and other Asian cities.
"I did not fill up the passport application forms myself. The agents did that. They just made me sign the blank form and later gave me the passport before our departure," Daisy explained to TV host Dong Puno on ABS-CBN yesterday.
"The third passport has all the honest facts because myself went to the Department of Foreign Affairs to apply for it in 1995, after I won as Binibining Pilipinas and when I was leaving to represent the country in the Miss World beauty pageant," Daisy said.
The DFA did not hesitate to grant her that third passport, according to the actress.
The co-star of Rossana Roces in the controversial movie "Carino Brutal" faces imprisonment and a heavy fine for falsification of public documents if found guilty of the charge.
