LEA CHATS FROM NEW YORK CITY

Internet News. June 29, 1998. Lea Salonga, the voice behind the song "Reflections" in the movie MULAN, chatted with the PHILIPPINE HEADLINE NEWS ONLINE Editorial staff last June 25, 1998 at the PHNO Chat Room.

Lea discussed her role in the animated movie and her plans in promoting the movie in Manila next week when she comes home for its gala premiere on July 4, 1998.

"I've seen it (Mulan) twice and I enjoyed it a lot! I think a lot of people back home will enjoy it.", says Lea.

The movie opened in the US and Canada two weeks ago and according to Lea, "last I heard it wasn't that far behind the X-files".

Lea was accompanied in the chat room by Joyce Torres, who joined the chat from Kansas City. Joyce is the brain behind Lea's official homepage at http://www.xnet.com/~wmeistr/LEA/. She coordinated the chat session for the PHNO. PHNO staffers, Rey Carolino (accompanied by his wife, Tina) and Lee Quesada fielded the questions to Lea from Canada. Lea joined the chat from her home in New York City using her favourite Macintosh computer.

Asked by the PHNO why she has not changed her computer to Windows yet, Lea responded: "If you own one (a Mac), I need not even explain. If you don't yet, you don't know what you're missing. Windows is a poor facsimile."

Several Lea fans from the Net sent in their questions through PHNO. PHNO was unable to ask all their questions as the chat session was cut short when some friends of Lea came to visit her in the middle of the session. PHNO was able to convince Lea, however, to appear once more at the TalkCity Auditorium (http://www.talkcity.com/) to give her fans another chance to chat with her live. Lea attracted hundreds of her Internet fans when she had her first TalkCity appearance last August 1, 1997.
