ANGELIKA LEAVES FOR 5-YEAR CONTRACT IN JAPAN
Manila, June 25, 1998 - Angelika de la Cruz, barely in her teens, is buried in Japanese language books, as she prepares herself for a gruelling 5-year recording career in Japan.
Angelika is cramming to master Niponggo because her contract specifies that she will record Japanese songs for release internationally by giant recording company Dai-ichi Productions. Angelika was introduced by Japanese artist Ted Ito to Mr. Kishebe who owns Dai-ichi.
July 20 is the target date for the departure to Japan of the young star, to be accompanied by her father who also acts as her manager.
Aside from the song albums, Angelika is also scheduled to shoot several commercials endorsing various Japanese products.
Other career-related developments: an MTV to be shot entirely in Europe, also for international distribution.
In the Philippines, Angelika is a BMG recording artist, and has recorded two albums under the label: "Angelika" and "My Only Wish" with the carrier-single "Paano Ba?" that became an instant hit.
She has also finished her launching movie "Seventeen" under Regal Films.
