NORA AUNOR TUTORED IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Manila, June 21, 1998 - A foreign language tutor comes to Nora Aunor's home several times a week, giving the Superstar lessons in German, French, Chinese and Nihonggo. That's what keeps Nora busy these days, according to Inday Badiday, who knows the Bicolana singer-actress more than any other writer or radio commentator.
Ate Luds, as Inday is popularly known, gave an update on Nora Aunor in her Phil Daily Inquirer column Saturday.
She reports that Senator Ed Angara has arranged for Nora to take lessons in foreign languages, in addition to polishing her English. The article supports earlier speculations that Nora will be appointed Roving Ambassador of Goodwill, to bring cheer to overseas Filipinos.
Also on tap for Nora is a movie tentatively titled "Sino'ng Pumatay kay Jose Rizal" which will co- star her old screen partner, "Miss Saigon" star Cocoy Laurel. The movie will be directed by another Nora Aunor fan and friend, Elwood Perez.
Nora was, along with Fernando Poe Jr., the most visible campaigner of Joseph Estrada. Wherever Erap went, it was an unwritten rule during the campaign that a seat was always reserved for Nora beside Erap. Nora sang at almost every political rally for Erap, from the northern tip of Luzon to the scattered islands of Mindanao.
During her birthday party last May 20, it was rumored that Erap's birthday gift was the title to the house that Nora was renting. A small price to pay, fans would say, for the hundreds of free appearances that Nora gave for her idol and friend, President-elect Joseph Estrada.
